Tripura Police upset defending champion Ageya Cholo Sangha by 3-2 goals in domestic First Division League Football Tournament here today.
In a crucial match at Dasharath Dev Stadium, Badharghat, striker Kiran Chhatri struck first in the seventh minute and Police took the lead by 1-0 goal. Just three minutes later, Cameroon striker Stephen leveled the score (1-1) for Ageya Cholo. Police team, who are dominating first half, took lead once again by Paresh Mihkarjee in the 26th minute (2-1).
Trailing before lemon break, star-studded Ageya Cholo bounced back in second half. In the 66th minute, Ageya Cholo got a penalty and Nigerian striker James leveled the score 2-2 brilliantly. Just five minutes later, Ageya Cholo earned another penalty when Stephen brought down by Police custodian Kanai Yadav. But this time James failed to find the net. The ball struck the bar and bounced back.
In the 88th minutes, Police striker Kiran once find the net from golden opportunity just inside the penalty box and Police confirmed vital three points from the match. Police now earned six points from two matches while Ageya Cholo also bagged same from three matches.
