Visitor Vidarbha recovered their early damage and scored a good total against Tripura in the four-day Ranji Trophy cricket match here today. Put in to bat first at the Maharaja Bir Bickram Stadium, Vidarbha scored 188 for 6 in their first innings at stumps on the opening day. Earlier, visitors lost four quick wickets just on 78 runs and felt in trouble. Then Rajit Pardkar batted brilliantly and scored unbeaten 57 runs (174 balls, 233 minutes, 9X4) to recover his team. Opener Faiz Fazal (40) and middle order S. Shribastav (34) supported him. Skipper Tushar Saha of host team bagged five wickets sparing 50 runs and his spinner partner Jayanta Debnath took another.

Bengal defeated Tripura by innings and 116 runs in the Colonel C. K. Naidu Trophy four-day cricket match for under-22 boys here on Sunday last. At the Polytechnic ground, training by 289 runs in the first innings, Tripura bundled out in 173 runs of the second innings also. Nirupam sen Chowdhury scored 41 (83 balls, 4X4) and Abhinandan Roy made 40 (82 balls, 7X4). For Bengal , Azaz Ansari bagged 7 for 41. Earlier, Bengal scored 423 runs of their first innings. Sufian Khan scored 90, Debopam Biswas 89 and Arnab Nandi made 83. Spinner Rakesh Sharma took 5 for 114 for Tripura.

Football :
Tripura girls bowed out from National Junior Football Tournament for under-19 years on Saturday last. In the last quarter final match at Gurgohn in Hariyana, host team routed Tripura girls by 10-0 goals. Winning team took lead 5-0 before lemon break. Earlier, in first quarter final match, Manipur beat Tripura by 3-0 goals and Goa defeated Tripura by 1-0 goal.
