Dipa took five medals in South Asian Gymnastics’

Agartala : Indian top women gymnast Dipa Karmakar secured five medals including two gold in the South Asian Gymnastics’ championship in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This is the first time her career, Tripura golden girl Dipa clinched medal from international arena.

After the prestigious title of team championship, Dipa bagged another gold medal in individual category from her favorite apparatus Vaulting Table. She secured silver from Uneven Bar and bronze from Balancing Beam. She also finished second position and bagged another silver medal from individual all round category.

Both Dipa and her coach Biswaswar Nandi were very much pleased for this performance. When arrived from Dhaka to Akhaura border on Saturday afternoon Secretary of Tripura Sports Council Kamal Saha, Secretary of Tripura Gymnastics Association Dilip Bhattacharjee, Arjun gymnast Mantu Debnath and sport lovers were welcome both Dipa and Biswaswar.

Dipa finish top in South Asian Gymnastics’

Agartala : Golden girl of Tripura and top women Gymnast of the country, Dipa Karmakar and her team lifted champion title in the women section of South Asian Gymnastics’ in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Dipa who representing India showed her brilliancy and finished top her team in the championship. Host Bengladesh and Srilanka bagged second and third place respectively.
Indian men team finished second position in the team event in the tourney.
Dishani clinch silver in National school Yoga
Dishani Lodh lifted Silver medal in the National School Yoga in New Delhi on Wednesday. In the girl’s under-14 section Dishani bagged this medal for Tripura. In under-14 boys section Shubhratanu Saha finished fourth position.

Dipa, a dazzling star of Tripura

It was a golden history of Tripura. It was in the field of Gymnastics. Many bright stars in this North-eastern state are glitters in the sky of Indian gymnastics till today. After a long break, one dazzling star was included in this sky, named Dipa Karmakar. For her excellent performance in the international arena she establishes herself as a ‘Dhrubatara’ in the glittering world.

Only a short span of one and half years, Tripura genius broke all pervious and created a new record for state as well as country also. Dipa, who born and brought up in Tripura, not only create a history asa best women gymnast in the country, as also representing international arena with raise the ‘tri-colour’. It was unexpected in the Indian sports field especially in gymnastics game.

In the sixth decade of last century, many sports persons were establish them as a star in the field of gymnast under the guidance and training by SAI coach great Dalip Sing. Tripura got two prestigious ‘Arjuna’ awardees Mantu Debnath and Kalpana Debnath bothfrom gymnastics event. Biswaswar Nandi, Balaram Shil, Tapas Deb, Bijon Saha, Debasish Dam Chowdhury, Madhushudan Saha and Lopamudhra Ghosh hare a bunch of names that represented country in various international tournaments and pride of Tripura also. Besides them, many gymnast of this state dominate and clinched India best title several times in this event. This domination was in the middle of eighth decade of last century. Then after a long break, Banasree Debnath bagged Gold from Bangaluru National Games in the year 1997. It was success for Tripura gymnastics but not to be continuous process for the state. The success graph of Tripura was decline gradual and confined it in sub-junior, junior and school level only.

It was too long, after 24 years big gaps Dipa Karmakar bounce back strongly and created all time history of Tripura as well as Indian gymnastics arena. She becomes the first women gymnast who not only representing India in the New Delhi Commonwealth Games and Guangzhou Asian games, but also entered final round in the Vaulting table category. She also represented India in the World Championship and World Cup in gymnastics. Dipa selected for Indian camp first time after her brilliant performance in the National School Gymnastics Championship and she represented Indian school team for Asian tournament in Doha. Then, Dipa clinched best women gymnast title first time from National Senior Championship in Tamilnadu in 2010. Then recently she retained her title in Jaipur 2011 also. She bagged four Gold and one Silver. Dipa, the golden girl of Tripura then created all time history in the recently concluded Jharkhanda National Games wrap up all five Gold medals of her section both from prestigious all round individual and other four categories.

Starting from Vivekananda Vayamagar of her first coach Soma Nandi, she upgraded very soon in Netajee Subhash Regional Coaching Center (NSRCC). Under the guidance of former international gymnast and coach Biswaswar Nandi, Dipa flourish herself and jump one step to another sharply. Daughter of SAI Weight Lifting coach Dulal Karmakar, Dipa know that success can not come without labour and dedication. Studding in Abhoynagar School, she concentrate her target to representing India from early stage. She proves that nothing is impossible. Her next target is to represent India in London Olympic in 2012. Dipa will, because she has determination. Yes, it’s possible defiantly.

Cricket :
Visitor Vidarbha took vital first innings lead against Tripura in the second day of four-day Ranji Trophy Plate-B cricket match here today. Resuming from over night score of 188 for 6 at the Maharaja Bir Bickram Stadium, Vidarbha finished their first innings in 224 runs. Ranjit Paradkar scored 76 (193 balls, 264 minutes, 12X4). Skipper Tushar Saha of host team took six wickets. In reply poor batting display by Tripura boys and bundled out at only 150 runs for their first innings. Two middle order batsmen Nishit Shetty and Abhijit Dey scored 37 (80 balls, 99 minutes, 6X4) and 35 (84 balls, 105 minutes, 5X4) respectively for hosts. Vidarbha spinner Madhusudhan Acharya bagged 4 for 23 and pacer Md. Hasim took 3 for 42. Leading by valuable 74 runs, visitor Vidarbha scored 30 for one in the second innings at the end of the day. Opener Amit Deshpande is still batting, who scored 17.

Gymnastics :
Gymnast Dipa Karmakar took three Gold and two Silver medals in the National Women Sports in Kolkata on Saturday last. Dipa bagged Gold medals from Uneven Bar, Vaulting Horse and Floor Exercise category. She also took Bronze medal from Balancing Beam. Her partner Sharmistha Malakar took Bronze medal from Uneven Bar apparatus. Earlier, Tripura bagged two Silver medals from team championship and Individual All Round category also.

Swimming :
Tripura bagged eleven medals including three Gold’s, from National Swimming Championship for disables at Colonel of Friday last. Rakesh Debbarma (50 mt. Free Style & 50 mt. Brest Stroke) in Sub-junior section and Mantu Debbarma (100 mt. Brest Stroke) in senior section took three Gold medals. Sukanta Das bagged one Silver medal from 100 meters Back Stroke and four Bronze medals from 100 meters Free Style, 100 meters Brest Stroke, 100 meters Butter Fly and 200 meters Individual Medley in senior section. Tamal Rudra Pal bagged two Bronze medals from 100 meters Brest Stroke and 100 meters Free Style in junior section. Mantu Debbarma took one Bronze from 50 meters Butter Fly in senior section.

Hot favorite Ageya Cholo Sangha bowed out from Rakhal memorial Knock-out football tournament here today. In third match of the tournament at Deshrath Dev Stadium, Badharghat, Nobodoy Sangha upset Ageya Cholo by 1-0 goal. After barren first half Sohel Bhuiya netted the decided in dying minutes of match. With this victory Nobodoy entered Semi-final of the tournament.

Football :

Tripura Police entered in to semi-final in the domestic Rakhal Memorial Knock-out football tournament today.
Police registered an emphatic win over Tripura Sports School (4-1) goals in the penalty shoot outs. At Dashrath Dev Stadium, Badharghat, both the teams were locked in scheduled 90 and even in the extra time (30 mintues). Then the match was decided by penalty shoots. Former school international Police custodian Kanai Yadav saved two shoots to lead police to a much needed win.

Gymnastics :

State Level Gymnastics Championship held at Netajee Subhash Regional Coaching Center (NSRCC). Altogether 95 gymnasts of 23 teams including Tripura Sports School, SAI SAG, Umakanta NSTC Center, BSF and Vivekanda Vyamagar took part in the tournament.

Forward Club moved in to second round in the Rakhal Memorial Shield Knock-out football tournament today. In the first match at Dashrath Dev Stadium, Badharghat, Forward Club beat Nine Bullets Club by 2-0 goals. Joseph Mar and Johnson Darlong scored both the goals for winning team.
Earlier, veteran footballer Bimalendu Gupta was opened this tournament. Prisident of Tripura Football Association MLA Pabitra Kar and Secretary of Tripura Sports Council Kamal Saha were present in this function. Nine teams were participated in this tourney.

Football :
Blood Mouth Club beat Town Club by 4-0 goals in the domestic Second Division Super League Football tournament on Monday.

East Zone Inter University Football tournament will be held at Agartala from October 19 next.

Inter College Football and Swimming will be held at Udaipur on August 27 to 31 next.

Altogether 36 girls were attending in the first day of trial camp of Tripura under-17 girl’s football team.

Kho-Kho :
State Level Sub-junior Kho-Kho Championship will be held at Boxnagar on August 25-26 next. An Executive meeting of Thipura Kho-Kho Association will be held on July 27 next.

Gymnastics :
State Level Gymnastics Championship will be held on August 1-2 next. Tournament will be held at Netajee Subhash Regional Coaching Center. A meeting of Organizing Committee will be held on July 28 next.
