Dubai , 25 April 2008

On paid leave until end of tenure; David Richards on assumes role as interim CEO until Haroon Lorgat takes over

ICC President-Elect David Morgan today released the following statement:

“The ICC President, Mr Ray Mali , and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Malcolm Speed , have agreed that Malcolm Speed will be on paid leave from 30 April 2008 until the end of his contract term on 4 July 2008.

“This change of plan is the result of a fundamental breakdown in the relationship between the CEO and a number of Board Members, including the President, over a variety of issues that include Zimbabwe .

“Mr David Richards on , the ICC General Manager – Cricket, will serve as interim CEO until Mr Speed’s replacement, Mr Haroon Lorgat , assumes the role at the ICC’s Annual Conference at the beginning of July.”

Mr Speed has served as the ICC’s CEO since July 2001 and is only the second person to have filled the role in the organisation’s 99-year history. He succeeded David Richards , who was CEO from 1993 to 2001.

Media note: ICC President-Elect Mr David Morgan is expected to be available to the media on Saturday 26 April. Further details will be confirmed and announced in due course.

Ahead of any briefing, there will be no further comment from the ICC on this matter.
